It is OK for you to believe what you believe. It is not OK for you to insist everyone else believe the same as you.
Is it always appropriate to presume and expect others to believe identically to the way that you believe?
Is it possible that some of the things that you believe are not necessarily true?
If you believe in something that is non-verifiable, does that make it necessarily false?
I think the interesting thing about humanity, is the broad swath of diversification of thought processes, cultures, systems, and expectations.
As humanity continues to expand, and our collective available resources for learning, grow in proportion, the opportunity for so many disparate belief systems to come to fruition and find adoption in large groups of people, becomes ever more apparent.
In this expanded mindset, the likelihood of everyone being on the same page, regarding disparate ideologies, religions, methodologies, cultural expectations, and social expectations, could not be more prevalent.
How then, will everyone find a way to find harmony with one another, if everyone is thinking differently?
The truth is, the only way that humanity can coexist, is through the elasticity of acceptance. If we are willing to accept a majority of belief systems, practices, rituals and life approaches, we are far more capable of finding a new level of harmony, so that our continuous ability to coexist, will grow in proportion to the size of our respective communities.
It is of course, appropriate to draw some boundaries, presumably, those in which certain people, animals or other living things, are being victimized as a result of a practice that is potentially out of harmony with the rest of society.
That’s the reason for laws, and for enabling people to find solutions at the ballot box, as opposed to on the battlefield. Only in our continuous understanding of one another are we ever going to get to a position of mutual understanding and respect. Together, as a society that allows other people to find their own harmony in whichever belief system is appropriate for them, are we ever able to achieve a higher balance of non-antagonistic, living circumstances.
If you are devout in any particular belief system, there is of course, an opportunity for you to share anything you desire with another willing party. But should they not adhere to your thought process, it is equally wise to celebrate them as an individual who is freethinking and fully capable of making their own determination in life.
Together, you may still find many places of commonality, and friendship.
Happy Tuesday!
