It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.

It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.

BABE RUTH

Consistency. Consistency. Consistency.

Nothing else replaces it.

Woody Allen once stated that 99% of his success is attributable to just showing up every day.

If you look at so many of the people who have had long, successful careers, you will find consistency is their backbone.

This does not mean they are not willing or desirous of evolving, and changing as needs dictate, but the consistency of sticking with whatever it was that they decided to do and pursuing it, is almost always the immutable fact.

It doesn’t matter whether you are working to be a sports legend like Babe Ruth or whether you are looking to pursue the next huge medical discovery, at the end of the day you are going to discover that life and pressures of your surroundings will continually give you cause or reason to feel as if you might be better served, taking an alternate route in life.

The truth is… even if we do choose to pivot, the one thing that is a constant is focus and dedication. Changing strategies, changing careers, changing methodologies, are all part and parcel to accomplishing the great goals in life.

Anyone who forgoes these variables in favor of some shortcut or a fast solution to getting to where they think they are going… is directly proportional to the outcome they will ultimately achieve.

If you talk with Michael Jordan about all of the practices that he endured, you’ll find the same story in Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson and countless other sports legends.

There just is no substitute for consistent training towards excellence. Anything less than that is a superficial short term cure that does not in and of itself create the answers that the person is looking for.

Happy Saturday!
