Be as smart as you can, but remember that it is always better to be wise than to be smart.
ALAN ALDA
Where does wisdom come from?
Is wisdom, entirely empirically acquired or does it come from other circumstances as well?
To Alan Alda’s comment, it is great to be smart, but even more important to be wise… so, if being smart comes from studying and learning, from where does the wisdom arise?
Your wisdom is predominantly garnered from life experience, whether it is a first person experience or through a third person experience in which we watch a series of events or circumstances transpire while others are going through them.
Wisdom also comes from books, plays, television, audio, games, movies in which we garner the benefit of the voyeur watching the protagonist grow through life experience or from a documentary that explains something beyond our current understanding.
Wisdom is equally aggregated, while we are continuously working towards feeling more autonomous, and less dependent upon others in the course of making the decisions we all must face during life.
Wisdom is so essential to a safe pathway in life…. So why is critical thinking not the core subject of all education?
A giant portion of wisdom comes from the ability to think critically, and to discern for oneself, what the proper course of action must be, predicated upon all the available knowledge at one’s disposal. If you are not learning critical thinking, perhaps it is because those around you who benefit from you in any manner, do not want you to make your own critical decisions.
We are all continually working on becoming smarter by exposing ourselves to countless stimuli, each of which is capable of accelerating our own personal capabilities, but over the course of acquiring such knowledge, we are more adapt at succeeding, if we are taking the continuous knowledge at our disposal, and putting it into an ever deeper mental system of resources, upon which we may draw as our lives, and associated circumstances accrue.
If I may add my author’s personal opinion here…. the major media companies all want to make profits to please their shareholders by passing you information, which you may opt to believe or disbelieve. Many of them are reporting factual information, and as time spells out the consequences of global actions, the reality of what is really transpiring becomes evident. But you must take the time to find truthful organizations who will give you facts that are substantiated by many other CREDIBLE news sources.
If you do not take the time to be incredibly wise and adept at critical thinking and overlooking the blinding morass of absolute lies and insanity that organizations like Fox News, Newsmax, OAN and Epoch Times are feeding you, then you are failing your wisdom exam and you will end up discovering one day that you have fallen victim to grifters.
Happy Sunday!
