MOTIVATION

How motivated are you when things get tough?

Where do you find a new reservoir of enthusiasm, energy and focused dedication when your overall options are narrowed, and all the pressure is on your shoulders?

The ability for us to find an internal compass and pursue that subconsciously  directed vision is a developed skill that requires tremendous focus, willpower, dedication and tenacity. It is a regimen that must be cultivated, established and maintained in the face of all storms and all factors that threaten to thwart the previous efforts made to have reached the current plateau upon which we stand.

These platitudes notwithstanding, we are continuously looking for the proper tools, resources, stimulation and motivation to keep us on track, and to hedge our potential for success.

These may be found in countless locations… online, books, publications, friends, media, public speakers, work associates, teammates and more.

When we stumble upon one that truly resonates with us, we are well served to leverage that resource to our greatest personal advantage. If the stimulation causes you to act differently, and ultimately work more diligently than you might have, had you not found the stimulation, then you are one step closer to your own personal success.

This sounds so obvious when we are in a positive mindset. But when we are in a down position, a lot of that stimulation fades in favor of the fear, sadness, depression, disappointment or whatever variable is making your world tough at that moment.

I believe the secret is knowing how you respond and leveraging that to your greatest personal benefit. For some, it is the right music tracks… and if that is the case, make a selection of music you turn on when you are in a down position and allow that music to bring you up again. Others prefer motivational speakers whom they listen to in audio systems, podcasts and similar. While others need to get away from their normal surroundings and walk or ride a bike or other vehicle or form of exercise and allow their minds to free associate until it is at a new equilibrium.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Happy Wednesday!
