Then, as it was, then again it will be
And though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Flying skies of fortune, each a separate way
On the wings of maybe, downing birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn’t have to go
But as the eagle leaves the nest, got so far to go
JIMMY PAGE, ROBERT PLANT
Do you know where your path is headed?
Are you certain about that?
We are often myopic about what we perceive as our predetermined path, and in many cases, we work diligently to pursue the direction upon which we have set….
And then… life intervenes.
While we pursue the direction upon which we set with our very best intentions….ultimately the true course that we travel is often times vastly disparate from what we have contemplated at the outset.
New stimuli can become a huge unforeseen variable that can ultimately alter our course of direction. The world is evolving at an exponential rate that only looks to increase at a pace that is truly unimaginable. With these changes come paradigm shifts that would potentially dethrone our best intentions and leave us in new undiscovered terrain, flying upon the wings of maybe, downing birds of prey.
I believe the most important choice we can make along the way, is working to remain faithful to our deepest desire to pursue our quest and hold our determination in pace with our tenacity…. With the caveat that we must remain very cognizant that the world will inevitably evolve along the journey and as a direct consequence, we must allow ourselves ample room to evolve without fear, shame or recrimination.
For as the eagle leaves the nest, got so far to go.
Happy Winter Solstice!
