I choose to live by choice, not chance; to be motivated, not manipulated; to be useful, not used; to make changes, not excuses; to excel, not to compete. I choose self-esteem, not self-pity. I choose to listen to my inner voice, not to the random opinions of others.

I choose to live by choice, not chance; to be motivated, not manipulated; to be useful, not used; to make changes, not excuses; to excel, not to compete. I choose self-esteem, not self-pity. I choose to listen to my inner voice, not to the random opinions of others.

Do you have a set of benchmarks by which you measure the choices you are making in your life?

Every day, we all make decisions, some of which are susceptible to the perspectives, beliefs, and opinions of those who have the ability to view our actions, and provide judgment or feedback.

In many situations, the feedback could be tremendously valuable, but in other circumstances, the feedback is superfluous, and can only potentially distract us from the more pressing issues that lie before us.

In today’s aphorism, there is a sequence of options in which we are afforded the choice of deciding how some of this feedback will, or will not impact us overall.

If we are continuously looking to the guidance of others, we are potentially missing the guidance of the most important voice of them all, and that is ourselves.

We alone are capable of drilling beneath the surface layer and understanding circumstances, limitations, spirit, perspectives, and other parts of the equation, which may not be readily visible to the outside observer.

In our own internal reflection, we are further able to sense a course of action or a behavior or a remedial step that can propel us to vibrant new levels of our life.

If we are only going to enable outside voices to guide us, we will unquestionably lack the wisdom and internal perspective that only our own mind and conscience can provide.

As we mature, we will become ever more reliant on our internal guidance system, and less willing to enable outside perspectives to readily influence us, unless we have determined that their perspective and guidance warrants our attention and concerted effort.

Making these distinctions and living by them is a code upon which we must all rely.

Happy Sunday!
