Life is hard. Life is difficult. Life is going to punch you in the gut. But when you change your attitude, you change your behavior. When your behavior changes, so do your results.

Life is hard. Life is difficult. Life is going to punch you in the gut. But when you change your attitude, you change your behavior. When your behavior changes, so do your results.

WILL HURD

Why does something so simple as changing your attitude reverse circumstances and propel you further in the right direction?

There are common sense answers to that postulate, as well as metaphysical answers.

The metaphysical response says that as you modify your thought process, and engage in a more positive perspective, you will generate the attraction of the variables in your world that will ultimately positively impact your results.

But, if that scientific response leaves you cold and wanting, try looking at it from a logical mindset.

If you are angry, bitter, grumpy, depressed, sad or any other of the negative emotions, are you pleasant to be around? Does your mindset draw others to you, or are you actually repelling external variables from interacting with you?

When you are in an up place and another is in a negative space, are you readily drawn to them? Accepting that you could well be a compassionate, understanding person who wants to be there for people in that headspace… with that caveat extracted from this example, in general, are you drawn to those who are in a negative, aggressive mindset?

This behavior is common across the animal kingdom. Watch the difference between two dogs who meet in a park, tails both wagging vs. one of them being in a tense, aggressive posture, looking fiercely ready to defend themselves.

We humans behave in kind, with our own signals, interactions and behaviors. When we are stressed out, angry, depressed or overwhelmed, we telegraph this to others and it creates a layer of repulsion that prevent others from engaging.

The counterintuitive approach is almost always (in my humble opinion) the wiser of the two. In this approach we come to terms with whatever the circumstances are that have delivered us to this moment. Then we convert all of our knowledge and willpower into reversing our internal energy field and projecting positive energy.

It may not always be easy. Nor does it even make sense in a moment like that. But it is almost always without question, the doorway out of that chaos and into a new realm of equilibrium.

I personally find music to be the ultimate passageway. I have a few tracks that I am almost impossible to feel down when I am listening to them. So when I hit this point, as we all do, music is my ultimate refuge.

With a smile and a willingness in our heart to accept that this is where we are (for now) and visualizing an achievable pathway to where we most wish to be, we will lay the groundwork for how and where we must be traveling to get out from underneath this burden and accelerate into our brighter future.

Happy Tuesday!
