At times, your mind might take longer to come to terms with something your heart understands right away. This means deep down, your thoughts might need more time to process and accept it.

At times, your mind might take longer to come to terms with something your heart understands right away. This means deep down, your thoughts might need more time to process and accept it.

Why is it that the mind takes longer than the heart to reconcile to reality?

When we are beset with the harsh truth that we do not wish to face, why is it that the heart recognizes the reality and yet the brain wants to keep twisting the variables around, hoping for some alternate outcome?

We are unquestionably in a continuous state of trying to make sense of the world around us, paired with the countless permutations that such a complex world provides. As we are continually working to find our way through such a complex set of variables, our minds are continually challenged with not always accepting that which appears to be so, as de facto.

The reality is, we are continuously seeking details, which might make greater sense of what appears to be a much larger picture… but in some circumstances, there are no more details. There is only the quiet, sad reality, which we are continuously working to comprehend and find our place within.

Life delivers us permutations upon which we may draw. Each of which come complete with their own various details, circumstances, and thus, allowances must be considered in the course of our working to make sense of all of it.

I lost one of my very best friends to prostate cancer yesterday. It has left my mind daunted by the harsh reality and finality of what has transpired. My heart has been preparing for this for a couple months, but my brain has been continuously looking and seeking alternate outcomes, solutions… anything the brain could contemplate, in order to stave off accepting that which was probably inevitable.

When we are in such a state, the brain simply refuses to let go, and as a direct consequence, it press our being into some form of ultimate acceptance when there are finally no further permutations available to consider.

People make decisions from the heart, they make the decisions from the brain, and they make decisions from a gut feeling.

Why these decisions are delineated as coming from disparate body parts, is at most a reflection of that which we are most inclined to trust.

A decision from the gut is traditionally reserved for something that feels innately right. A decision from the heart is usually made out of a passion for someone or something. Whereas a decision from the mind is based on some form of intellectual contemplation of the topic, some sort of a reconciled perspective, upon which we must rely.

When we are making up our mind about topics which carry significant gravitas in our world, we are well served to recognize which part of our body is speaking to us, and why.

Life is truly short. Take a moment today and let a few people in your world know that you love them, I do this daily with my writing, and it seems to help me quite a bit.

Happy Sunday!
