For me, it’s not about the wins and losses. It’s about helping these young lads be the best person they can, on and off the field.

Do you always have your eyes on the metaphorical brass ring?

Do you stay so continually focused on winning that you forget how to appreciate your life along the way?

Our world is so challenging, competitive, and demanding, that there are many days in which we are losing contact with whom we are, in favor of just surviving in the maelstrom of variables against which we must navigate.

Perhaps there are options within all of the construct in which we are living which we have ample opportunity to develop our being, as opposed to solely developing our professional resources.

In the course of our continual push to succeed, thrive, and ultimately emerge victorious, there lies a vast suite of possibilities for us to mature our essence, and not solely a bottom line.

When we are discharged from our responsibility, for small windows of time, we come to a free pocket of time in which we are offered substantive opportunity to grow and mature in ways that give us a greater sense of self, and as a direct result, our value as a genuine human being could ultimately rise to substantial new heights.

If we are solely pursuing success on a professional front, would it not make sense that our personal inventory of resources is far less likely to mature in parallel with the growth we are experiencing as an individual?

When we work to mature as a person, and empower ourselves to learn, experience, try, explore and develop our surrounding skills, we awaken to a much larger reality than the myopic constraints that our professional filters allow us.

In that development, part of us expands in countless dimensions. Through those experiences, we broaden the perspective in which we view our resources, opportunities and goals in life. From these explorations, the greater being, whom we wish to become, is maturing. A giant is awakening within, and it will enable us to reach for ever greater heights than we had ever presumed possible.

There are many times in which an intervention in our lives could potentially stave off the consequences which appear imminent. Often times, such an intervention occurs and a circumstance is remedied without our needing to take it on personally. Yet, when we look back on previous chapters of our life, we are clear that the greatest personal growth we have experienced is when there was no intervention and the solution had to originate from within.

In that core realization, we are confronted with the truth. Our personal and professional growth always occurs when we are left to solve the situation and rise to the task of coming to our own resources, in order that we may prevail. No matter what.

Growth, whether voluntary, or involuntary, comes at a price. In that growth, we unquestionably awaken to discover the greater being we are destined to become.

It may not always be the most pleasant of journeys, but it will elevate us to heights that may have been previously unimaginable.

Happy Monday!
