Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if though wilt always look.

Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if though wilt always look.

MARCUS AURELIUS

When we summon our inner strength, what is really happening?

We are sometimes so against the wall, that our only option is to search deep within and find a reservoir that is waiting for us to draw upon.

These moments are larger than life, and require an internal focus and a deep desire to prevail, regardless of circumstance or environment.

When we are confronted with the prerequisite stimuli, I believe we are left with solely a sink-or-swim mindset. A self-preserving force of nature overtakes our entire being and seizes control, in order to maintain our potential to continue pursuing our main option.

We hear the metaphor about bouncing back from failure and envision our own personal interpretation of the metaphor.

In reality, it is not a bounce, so much as a phoenix rising from ashes.

If you have faced a legitimate failure in your life, you are focused on one thing, solely…. Extricating yourself from that failure by conjuring every last ounce of energy, determination, faith and tenacity that catapults you from the clutches of doom and delivers you to the gates of opportunity and promise.

Whether you turn to empowering rituals, or discovering your purpose through taking responsibility for the choices you have made in life, or raising your standards… whatever the methodology, you are leveraging mental resources to self hypnotize into a frame of mind that is capable of resolving whatever the current crisis is, and returning oneself into stasis.

Our ability to grasp this simple, but potent formula will most likely save our lives at a couple of chapters along the road of our lives. When we focus and let go of the past, we are no longer what we have already done, but more a construct of what we are becoming.

As my buddy, Doug Ivanovich says, “The caterpillar knows not of the butterfly. But the butterfly knows of the caterpillar.”

Happy Monday!
