We are like books. Most people only see our cover, the minority read only the introduction, many people believe the critics. Few will know our content.
EMILE ZOLA
What actually lies beneath the veneer that represents you from the outside?
Is there significantly more than others might at first perceive?
When we are quick to judge another party, we are unquestionably creating a disservice to them, regardless of whether or not our first impression is entirely favorable.
When we are given ample opportunity to get to know someone else, and to learn of their passions and dislikes, we are able to make a better assessment of whom the other party is, and what they truly stand for, believe in, and ultimately, which rules do they choose to act in accordance with.
The consistent illusion that is presented from an outwardly facing veneer may be accompanied by misperceptions upon which a majority of people might be willing to put their faith and confidence behind. Witness the insanity that are continuing to rally behind DJT.
Unfortunately, for most of us, a giant percentage of that disappointment is precisely what we feel when others have misjudged us from precisely this phenomenon.
People may make an assessment of you based upon the clothing you wear, the first thing you say, your physical stature, financial stature, employment stature and other superficial first impression variables.
Yet, if we get one or two sentences with them, then we are a little more likely to impress upon them a greater understanding of whom we truly are and what constitutes us as individuals.
It is not until there is an ample opportunity to speak at length for a period of time with another party before we are more likely to get a deeper sense of what they stand for, where they place their their values and ultimately which set of internal parameters will guide their determination on an ongoing basis.
If we are truly fair with others, we will reserve our judgment until we have a fair opportunity to learn about them and make a much more informed decision than whatever the cover of their life story may project outwardly, at any particular moment in time.
Happy Saturday!
