What does it truly take to change ourselves?

At first glance this would appear to be such an obvious answer that desire and the will to change are the only prerequisites…  and in some cases that might actually be true.

In some cases, that’s all it takes, yet the reality is that the majority of changes that we make are inevitably reversed in moments of weakness, sadness, despair, extreme joy, festivity, unusual circumstance, and countless other permutations… each of which are likely to create a moment of indecision, paired with persuasive stimuli in order for what appeared to be a confirmed lifestyle change to fall by the wayside in favor of whatever the temptation, negative emotion or circumstance, to erode in potentially the blink of an eye.

So if it is not our will and determination to change, what is it that ultimately creates that final piece of the puzzle?

What is it that keeps us on track with whatever resolution we might have made?

It would appear that the determining variable, inevitably stems from a complete dissatisfaction for whatever component of our lives we are not content with in order to ultimately create enough friction in our projected vision of happiness and satisfaction as to galvanize our deeper resources upon which we must draw, if we are truly able to defeat whatever variables continue to thwart our efforts in that particular area.

When we are at a point of being completely dissatisfied with our status quo, we trigger a deeper force within us that stands up against temptation, stimulation, persuasion, and all the other emotions that are potentially compromising our ongoing ability to mature and evolve to our own personal satisfaction.

If we are fully capable of finding a clear frame of mind during such a moment, we might very well be capable of seeking our greatest new chapter, by drawing a metaphorical line in the sand and thereby creating a catalyst deep within that will fuel the newfound change within us… potentially for a lifetime.

There are times when you just cannot change the world and when you are at a point where you recognize you are not going to be capable of effectuating such change, the only option remaining is within.

Happy Sunday!
