Nothing makes you smile more than looking into the face of a dog that loves you.

Nothing makes you smile more than looking into the face of a dog that loves you.

Why is our relationship with a dog so special?

I believe it boils down to unconditional love.

If you have a loving relationship with your dog, it will cherish you in ways that humans are not capable of doing on a 24/7 basis.

When you come home, the dog is thrilled to see you. When you leave, it is sad to see you leave. When you pay attention to it, it is the happiest creature on earth. When you are having a low moment in life, your dog senses this in you and will come to your rescue.

The dog is always faithful, dependent, and nurturing. It builds on the relationship with each and every day, growing more into the companion you had hoped for by bringing that animal into your life.

Losing your dog at the end of their life, is as painful as it gets. The emotional bond that has been forged is beyond language’s ability to quantify. It is one of the most special, most nurturing, most comprehensive of life’s experiences to have such a relationship, and when one has been forged over time, the loss is indescribable.

I have often pondered the consideration that GOD reversed is DOG. I will leave it up to the reader to determine whether there is any direct connection/correlation to that fact, but I find it most interesting that engaging with a dog can be a divine experience of magnitude. The indescribable quality of unconditional love that comes through such a relationship is nurturing in ways that nothing else in life can touch. If God is love, well…

When you look into your dog’s eyes, recognize the true gift in life that you have been blessed with, having forged this relationship and reward that dog with all of the love and attention that such a special relationship deserves.

Happy Sunday!
