Don’t look for happiness in the same place you lost it.

Have you ever hit a moment in which you have lost your happiness? I’m not discussing a fleeting moment, but something of magnitude that robbed you of your zest pour la vie?

When this happened, how did you react?

The majority of us would look towards the place of original happiness, with expectation that in our quest to see the happiness return, it would make most sense to find it where it once existed.

I would presuppose that in the expectation of returning to the same metaphorical pasture, from whence your happiness blossomed, that you might have good cause to believe it will blossom there once again.

In some cases, that may very well be true, but in a majority of cases, we may be pleased to discover that our happiness springs from within, and our ability to find happiness in other areas, with other people is far more robust than we may first imagine.

If you have hit a moment where that happiness has been lost to a variable that is outside your control, perhaps you might start by accepting that to be so. Then, look to a new horizon of your choosing that is short term practical and opportune. Leverage your resources to manifest that into your world. Celebrate the small victory, and aim larger, with greater determination for expansion of that whom you’re becoming, rather than that of whom you’ve already been.

When you find that perspective, so much more of the journey is a celebration rather than an exercise in frustration, trying to force square pegs into round holes.

Happy Sunday!
