I bet all of us know at least one person who is waging a battle internally on something that almost no one else knows about. We have all been there at one point in time.
When we attempt to wage war internally on something that is private, whether that is some form of addiction, illness, mental disorder, depression over the loss of personal relationship or otherwise, we are battling in territory that is so sensitive and so heart wrenching at times as to leave all of us feeling immensely displaced for our efforts to try and calm all that is inside of us and causing us anxiety, pain and grief.
Our ability to find the courage in order to combat the painful urges, we have to quell could not be more important.
When we look at others and feel as if they are living some sort of charmed life in which they could not possibly fathom all that we go through in our day by day battles, we are probably not sensitive to the ones that they are enduring.
The more that one suppresses the urges and sensations within in favor of a more balanced life in the more one remains truly the master of one’s own destiny.
In this microcosm, which we populate, we are evermore judicious about maintaining our vigilance as we continuously encounter stimulation that gives us cause or reason to regress.
When was the last time some tawdry dessert like an amazing ice cream was calling to you late at night… did you succumb, or did you overcome the desire?
Our best efforts are left in the moments of solitude in which we might ultimately find a more accurate depiction of our real self waiting daily for nourishment to keep it away from the things that are not healthy for our lives.
So when we look at others, we might choose to be more gentle in our approach, having no true understanding what the other parties might actually be going through.
Happy Monday!
