Don’t let the wisdom of age be wasted on you.

As you grow older, do you feel you are growing wiser as well?

We mature through all life circumstances, positive and negative.

Each provide structure for the foundation of our belief system, our behavior, our perspectives and views.

When we emerge from a difficult chapter, we awaken to the harsh realities from which we have matured and work to circumvent ever having to experience same again.

Conversely, as we have more positive experiences, we are considerably more likely to pursue those kinds of opportunities as they arise, and work to ensure that we create more of these kinds of moments in our lives.

When a lifetime of such variables matures, we are presumably more capable of navigating away from moments of disappointment and pain and work evermore diligently to plant the seeds for our future to be filled with life experiences that are rewarding.

Our lives are enriched in this process, and more importantly, our psyches are that much less entangled with the negative constructs that arise out of a continuous path of distorted belief systems.

If we are continuously looking at life through distorted filters, we are more prone to accept that which is represented to us as being factual and opportune. If we are not aware of the fact that our lives are a continuous cycle of these kinds of experiences, we will continuously stumble through the same issues, wrestle with the same problems, and live a life of struggle and disappointment.

When we are older and wiser, we are presumably less likely to make the same mistakes we have made earlier.

If we are conscious enough about our life experience, we will be far more likely to see the proverbial writing on the wall in circumstances that are likely a repetition of that which we have already experienced.

We are also wise in our later years to learn to fret less about the variables which are outside of our own control. We may be prudent to pay attention and make informed decisions, but to ultimately fret over details which are beyond our reach has proven valueless, countless times in the past.

As a final note, we might be mature enough to savor the little things. The smiles, the laughs, the great meals, the awesome sunsets, the newly blossomed flowers, the change of the seasons, the rhythms of water in steams and oceans…. And through it all, we are producing and ultimately capturing a life well lived.

Happy Thursday!
