Worrying is like paying a debt you don’t owe.
MARK TWAIN
When was the last time you spent any energy worrying about something?
I would be willing to wager that it was within the last 30 days, if not within the last seven.
Our ability to forecast future events put us into a microcosm of the animal kingdom which is both aware of, and capable of, anticipating future events and the ramifications that they may bring.
As we progress further down our continuous pathway towards whatever we believe our destination truly is, we cannot help but contemplate variables which may threaten to impede that journey, in one of countless ways.
Our continuous ability to distinguish between that which is real, versus that which is forecast, in our mind, allows us ample opportunity to quell the anxious feelings that give us pause for concern, long before there is anything to even be concerned about.
As we generate emotions towards variables which may never come to pass, we are awakened to the uncomfortable notion that we are expending needless energy in the present concerning ourselves about an imaginary vision of the future. This perspective on the future does not necessarily hold any true merit, when considered at this early stage.
Expending valuable time away from the present in exchange for troubling oneself with fears and trepidations about what could potentially transpire down the road, is literally paying a portion of one’s life in exchange for fears that may never warrant the thought or energy.
This is not to say that judicious evaluation of variables that could potentially impact one’s future are not worthy of consideration, for truly they are, but to spend a vast sum of time and energy worrying about them does not serve one in the grand scheme of things.
When you are secure in whom you are and what you are equipped with, you may discover that a lot of these worries are for naught.
Happy Tuesday!
