The hardest thing is facing yourself. It’s easier to shout “revolution!” and “power to the people” then it is to take a look at yourself, find out what’s real inside you and what isn’t, when you’re pulling the wool over your own eyes and your own hypocrisy. That’s the hardest one.

JOHN LENNON

When you look in the mirror, what do you really see?

How easy it is to point out the issues with everything and everyone else, but our own selves.

We can spot the flaws in others from a mile away, but in our own reflection, two feet in front of us, the same ability withers in proximity.

Our ability to dig deep within, seek the core truth and then face it head on, is most certainly one of the most difficult journeys we may ever opt to embark upon.

We may discover that our ability to obfuscate our flaws, in favor of our own unique perspectives, is one of the most impermeable membranes through which we must pass, if we are ever to grow further than where we stand currently.

To look deep within and find core truth requires both discipline as well as a large batch of courage. For behind our luminous perspective of ourselves, lies the reality of whom we truly are as well as whom we are truly becoming.

Facing these truths and confronting them head on requires a determination to eliminate the distraction layer, the ego layer, the formal facade in favor of owning our flaws, mistakes, disappointments, failures, and discovering the deeper qualities within ourselves upon which we must rely.

There, in the quiet sanctuary of our own mind, we must reevaluate, recalculate and project a course of action worthy of leveling up our character to newer and higher standards of excellence.

The journey has the potential of being the most cathartic of all and could potentially leave us in a lower frame of mind than the one upon which the experienced commenced…. But if we have the discipline to go there, we have the courage to explore how and why our world may improve dramatically if we were to hold tight on our resolution for change.

In that moment of courage, countless new frontiers are awakened and identified. In those arenas of growth, we may opt to evolve in countless ways, leaving only a semblance of whom we were in favor of whom we are determined to become.

We become alive and emerge as the butterfly from our former caterpillar selves and awaken to a new reality which was only possible with the help and guidance of our higher being which enabled us to venture into dangerous personal territory and shine our light on the areas of darkness within.

These are core strengths upon which we must be capable of standing, when the true measure of our courage and determination have been revealed.

Only then will we be capable of a personal evolution of which we may be most proud.

Happy Saturday!
