Are you the same person that you were yesterday?

@ANNETAFTYOGA

Unless something particularly eventful or consequential happened, you will most likely respond that you are.

Are you the same person that you were a week ago? One month ago? One year ago? 10 years ago?

In these windows of time we are able to contrast and compare, and find aspects of whom we were, versus whom we are. This insight helps us to facilitate our understanding of what path we are on.

Some things are entirely evolutionary with age. For example, when was the last time you sat on a park swing and swung as high as your feet could take you?

Some are professional, in that your increasing skill sets are delivering you to new territory with new experiences, challenges, and opportunities.

Some changes transpire in your personal world, as you gravitate into your serious relationship and contemplate having offspring.

Regardless of which of the myriad permutations, we might be experiencing, there is unquestionably a sequence of change that we find ourselves living through. Only when certain reminders take us to territories that we no longer occupy, are we finally able to see the distance we have traveled.

Realizing how far east you have traveled allows you the power to travel further eastward.

Other opportunities arise, such as when we are raising young children, in which we are treated to the opportunity of seeing a portion of life through the filter of their fresh and unvarnished perspectives.

As we see the joy and miracle of things that we have potentially been taking for granted, we awaken to some of the memories of how and why we felt about certain things over the course of our lifetime.

Sometimes, as we reflect, we might leave with an impression that we have left certain experiences, rituals, behaviors, beliefs, and practices in our rearview mirror, but when all is said and done, we are the evolution that we are enabling ourselves to become and in this evolution, we are a continual work in progress that always has opportunity for modification, revision, new understandings, and new approaches.

If you are finding yourself trapped with old behaviors, you may work to evolve through them into those that you might wish to personify, and if you have reflected backwards and remembered specific activities, practices or behaviors that you miss, it might be time to reflect and regress a little bit back into part of what you are missing.

Life is a continual evolution, and it is always incumbent upon us to work as hard as we may to embrace that evolution and empower ourselves with the resources necessary to capitalize on those changes to our greatest personal and professional benefit.

Happy Thursday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
