Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasure to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.
Be as smart as you can, but remember that it is always better to be wise than to be smart.
There are no two words more harmful in the English language than ‘good job’.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
I hope you choose to surround yourself with people who want what’s best for you. These people will challenge your perspective in a healthy, loving way, intentionally expanding emotional limitations to elevate your thinking, stimulating inner motivation.
I think there’s a point in your healing journey where you stop trying to convince other people to do the right thing. You just observe their choices, understand their character, and decide what you’re going to allow in your life.
Thinking is difficult. That’s why most people judge.
When you find yourself in a room, surrounded by your enemies, you should tell yourself, “I am not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.” This is the kind of mindset you should have if you want to succeed in life. Get rid of that victim mentality.
A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.
I think everybody should get rich and famous, and do everything they ever dreamed of so that they can see that it is not the answer.
