Popcorn is prepared in the same pot, in the same heat, in the same oil, and yet… The kernels do not pop at the same time. Don’t compare your child to others. Their time to pop is coming.
You haven’t seen the last of me.
As the world fights to figure everything out, I’ll be holding doors for strangers, letting people cut in front of me in traffic, saying good morning, keeping babies entertained in grocery lines, stopping to talk to someone who is lonely, being patient with sales clerks, smiling at a passersby.
I ought to care more about you than I do about me. I ought to care more about what’s right than I do about what’s popular. I ought to be willing to give up this whole thing for something I believe in. Because if I’m not, then maybe I don’t belong here in the first place.
The only people who get upset about you setting boundaries are those who are benefitting from you having none.
When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.
