Quite an experience to live in fear isn’t it? That’s what it is to be a slave. I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am grateful to these teachers.
If you are living for tomorrow, you will always be one day behind.
Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than everyone else expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself and be lenient to everybody else.
Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose a response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
When I was five years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.
I was taught that the human brain was the crowning glory of evolution so far, but I think it’s a very poor scheme for survival.
