It’s not what it is, it’s what it leads to.

CAPTAIN RIDDERS

How often have you commenced on a path, without absolutely knowing your destination?

In many cases, the voyage of discovery is everything.

Through the exploratory journey, a person is able to set off on a personal quest of evolution. In that process, they are often venturing into unknown territory, with no other expectation than they will learn something along the way.

Many people are uncomfortable with the prospect that they might divert off of a predictable path, in favor of going headfirst into the unknown. The choice to explore the unexplored gives many a great degree of discomfort, for fear they might encounter variables that they had not otherwise expected.

In the course of making such a choice, we must be fully cognizant of our strengths, as well as our weaknesses, so that we are that much more ready for whatever variables should come our way. In this experience, we open ourselves to our higher being, which takes control during such an event, and helps us to navigate to safe harbor once again .

When you have successfully completed enough chapters, such as this, you develop a deeper sense of self reliance, which galvanizes a deeper quest within ourselves, to push even further the next time.

There is a specific quality to the joy of venturing into the unknown. It is a combination of trepidation meets exhilaration. In that experience, we are repressing any form of anxiety that may rise to the surface, in favor of galvanizing our internal sense of purpose, which propels us headfirst into the unknown.

This is unquestionably not for the faint of heart. It takes courage and determination, paired with a certain degree of fearlessness, that together, are fully capable of enabling us to accelerate at full velocity into territories which we may or may not be prepared for.

In some cases, the entire exercise is for naught, and as a direct result, we find ourselves having taken such a risk, with no possible outcome of value. But the truth is, in many cases, it is not the outcome of the quest, so much as it is the growth of the individual over the course of the quest, that makes all of it valuable to us.

In each and every experience, we discover more of the assets in our pool of internal resources upon which we may draw when we become needy of such a skill or knowledge.

Further, the entire experience continues to mature our overall demeanor, in such a fashion, as to amplify these same qualities in our self, such that we will be capable of embarking on an even larger opportunity when it may arise.

If I may offer my humble opinion, I would advise everyone to venture regularly outside of your comfort zone. It may not always be the best experience, but in the course of taking such action, you have no idea how you may evolve as a direct consequence, in the most positive ways.

Happy Thursday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
