Let your light shine so brightly that others can see their way out of the dark.

Let your light shine so brightly that others can see their way out of the dark.
KATRINA MAYER
Where and for whom do you shine your light?
There are so many of us who are regularly looking for answers, solutions, opportunities, lessons, encouragement, and motivation, as to create a vast reservoir of wants and needs throughout humanity.
Fortunately, there are a good percentage of people who are more than willing to extend of themselves in ways that help others truly discover a myriad of hidden resources, waiting to be leveraged, and to accelerate them towards whatever goal they are heading towards.
We are individually blessed with characteristic strengths that elevate us in specific areas above our peers. The strengths may be leveraged to their greatest potential, not only by utilization in our own conquest of goals and opportunities, but also in our ability to help out and/or mentor another individual or individuals.
Our consistent efforts in these categories enable us to be a considerable value in society, by delivering our unique strengths and expertise to those who so desperately need them.
When we are encountering another who may benefit from our knowledge and specific wisdom, it is wise for us to remember they are potentially coming to us in a state of vulnerability.
No one likes to admit that they are vulnerable. In the course of disseminating wisdom and value to others, we are equally wise to understand the true art of diplomatic communication, such that the other party always genuinely feels like a beneficiary of something of extraordinary value, without them ever feeling beholden, nor shamed for their current lack of understanding of these ideas or skills.
When we are the person who is needing that type of guidance or instruction, we quickly recognize how uncomfortable our own individual vulnerability makes us feel, and perhaps through that personal identification with those feelings, we might become that much more considerate and understanding with those who seek our counsel.
The opportunity to shine our light so brightly that others can see their way out of the dark, is a divine gift that has been bestowed upon us, and as with all divine gifts, comes with the blessing of being able to leverage that gift for the benefit of not only ourselves, but many others as well.
A special shout out to my friend, Stephanie Garvin, who just wrote, produced and directed her first theatrical film and did a very small screening for friends this weekend! I am so proud of her, having watched all of the challenges she has endured and overcome to deliver this delightful movie (and from which today’s aphorism has been borrowed). The film is called, “Holiday Twist” and will be out at the end of the year in theaters!!
Happy Monday!
