Question yourself

Question yourself about how things really change in this world…. For example, in 2006, The Illusion Factory was working on creating special effects for the movie, Who Killed The Electric Car? This documentary probed the intense effort to suppress electric vehicles. All the way to the point of one of the remaining batteries inside a car on display in the Smithsonian having been removed.

Watching Elon Musk and his Tesla dream rise above this degree of suppression and usher in a new industry for electric automobiles and large electric battery manufacturing, was incredibly inspirational for me and my path of self improvement.

In a world that has accelerated so intensely over the last 20 years, the need to perpetually evaluate oneself, one’s actions and one’s business practices could not be any more necessary than it is today.

But beyond the need, there is a joy that finds deep satisfaction watching progress. I think the majority of the human species is conditioned biologically to improve day after day, year after year.

Question yourself, what might I have done better? In personal situations and in professional situations, if I am truly honest with myself, there are always options for self improvement. The trick is to be mature enough to absorb those observations and convert them into practices the next time.
That takes both discipline and personal awareness to catch yourself at the moment where you could do better than you did prior and implement your better solution.

The only person worth surpassing, is the person you were yesterday.

Hope you have a vibrant Saturday???

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Are you improving, week after week? If not, why not?

I think that’s the single best piece of advice: constantly think about how you could be doing things better and questioning yourself. – Elon Musk

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
