Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not cliches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path.

Have you ever seen something in your mind that no one else has ever seen?

It is truly one of the most magical moments in life.

As that thought emerges into your mind, it truly is as if the clouds have parted and a ray of sunshine is streaming down, illuminating this concept for all that it could possibly be worth.

In this crystallization of consciousness, we are elevated to a new awareness of all that we are able to achieve and we discover an internal illumination that glimmers with a perpetual sparkle that beacons us ever forward towards the realization of that dream.

Trying to explain these feelings, visions, concepts to another is an effort that may only possibly bear fruit. We are more likely going to discover that others are not seeing the vision at all. We may try to articulate it, illustrate it or write it out so that others may share in the dream, but none of those experiences are going to deliver the deepest passion that is found in that internal experience. In fact, in many cases, as we try to articulate that which we are envisioning, we are caught short by other’s reaction to that which we have been able to articulate (not that which we are seeing in our own mind) and their responses may (in many cases) be far less effusive than we may have hoped for.

Many a great dream is extinguished at this stage. In our half-baked attempt to try to convey that to which we are drawn (like a moth to the flame) we share something that is only a partial representation, and in doing so, we suddenly empower another party to weigh in on only that which we have been able to convey, and in many cases, their response is tepid at best.

The secret to realizing your dreams is not to enable others to carry sway on your determination. They did not personally have the moment where the clouds parted, you did. They are not motivated deep in the heart to see this come to fruition. You are. They are motivated by whatever dynamic exists between you and them, and that dynamic is an equal participant in how they will choose to react to that which you have opted to share with them.

There is a lot to learn from how they respond. Perhaps the best lesson you may learn is how well you are doing at conveying that which is in your mind. If your received response is not on par with that which you might have hoped for, then perhaps it is not your idea that is weak, but instead, it is your ability to convey it. If you are one of those people, I would suggest you read the book, “The Three Minute Rule.” It was a great tuning up exercise for me in my presentations, and while I thought I knew it all before reading this book, I apparently did not.

Stay true to your vision. Do not let others turn you away. Find your best path to convey what you are seeing, and refine that process until others are as illuminated and elevated by your ideas as you are.

Happy Wednesday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
