Success Is Dangerous. One Begins To Copy Oneself.

Any artist of magnitude and longevity comes into direct conflict with their previous success as their inner being works to continually develop new material.
This quandary is very common in all forms of art whether it be a musician, painter, filmmaker, writer, etc.
It becomes almost the proverbial devil and angel on respective shoulders. One side is continually pushing for new concepts, new experiences, new terrain. The other side fights for financial success that has already been proven by previous works.
When Picasso entered his blue period, he was maligned for going in a vastly new direction. In actuality, his inner being was pushing for opportunity to express in yet another fashion.
I believe that at the end of the day, while financial success is mandatory to survive, the quest for developing new material is equally mandatory for the health and longevity of a great artist.
I hope your Saturday brings you great joy!!
