Surround yourself with people who fight for you in rooms you are not in.

Surround yourself with people who fight for you in rooms you are not in.

Do you have people in your inner circle who will defend you when you are not around?

Many people will say something to your face that is highly disparate from what they will say behind your back.

Recognizing those who are genuine, from those who are not, may be one of the most important observations you can make in life.

Knowing that you have people who are going to speak up on your behalf, is an incredibly valuable asset to have in life. They give you solace that there are more than one of you who are standing up for whatever it is that you choose to believe in.

In our selections of friends and colleagues, we must be highly aware of these personality traits, less we rely upon someone who is not what they might appear to be.

When we find people of this caliber, there is an unspoken pact between both parties, that both will conduct themselves with honor and loyalty, and remain trustworthy to one another, under the most difficult of circumstances.

In order to engender these feelings towards oneself, from another, we must continually conduct ourselves with high morals and scruples, so that we become above suspicion or reproach, on anything that we say, or do.

In this choice, we are establishing a foundation of credibility that will follow us for our entire lives.

When you are the person speaking about someone else behind their back, make sure you are carrying yourself in the most intelligent and commendable manner, so that you continue to garner esteem in the eyes of those around you.

Happy Sunday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
