Although Francois wrote this before he passed away 340 years ago in 1680, if there is one thing that is still consistent over the course of time… it is the ability for men to do stupid things in the presence of women.
When I saw this quotation, I immediately thought of what happened last year when one actress destroyed the careers of two studio CEOs.
Twenty-five years of a career destroyed in a moment of fake passion.
The part that staggered me was not that it happened, but that it was the same actress that destroyed both of their careers. You would have presumed the second one would have heard about the first one.
In the year 2500 somebody will be telling the exact same tale. It is the world’s oldest profession and most likely will continue to be the downfall of many a man over the course of history.
