The hardest battle is between what you know in your head and what you feel in your heart.

The hardest battle is between what you know in your head and what you feel in your heart.
Truly one of life’s hardest quandaries is the prospect of having to choose between what your mind tells you to be so, and what your heart truly wants.
In your mind, you are more rational, more willing to set aside emotion, and deal with the reality of the situation. Whereas in your heart, you are lead solely by pure emotion. What your heart wants, it wants…regardless of expense, consequence, or any other potential ramifications.
Your heart leads you down a specific path. It is the impetus that takes you on the journey. It forecasts a rosy future in which all of your obstacles are negligible. It projects a continuous streak of victories, unimpeded by the forces of reality. It elevates your spirit and catapults you to stratospheric heights. Your heart is the ultimate launchpad for your biggest dreams to come to fruition.
And then walks in your mind. Your mind is the bad cop in this relationship. It wants to succeed with the heart. It believes in your heart. It has already taken a few journeys with your heart, but as a result of those test journeys, it has good reason to remain cautious about what that could ultimately mean. It knows from experience that life is not an unimpeded journey of opportunity. It has weathered the outcome when things do not go as perfectly as your heart has promised. It recognizes the potential peril that awaits. It is your guardian, working to keep you on track.
The battle of internal duality is commonplace. It happens over the smallest of things, like when you see a sweet treat you want to buy and then your mind comes along and reminds you of the extra workout you will need to do to make that treat a neutral in your body weight.
In a new romantic relationship, your heart is more than willing to paint any picture you want to see, such that you move forward. Yet, your mind understands some of the longer term issues that will result upon making this choice. Your mind tries its best to seize control, but that is why this jurisprudence is called “affairs of the heart.” Your mind is (in many cases) shut out of the discussion.
As an entrepreneur, your heart can be your greatest ally. It will fuel your optimism, empower you to take bolder steps than ever before, and prove your inner being has a fire so deep within your belly, that no fire extinguisher in the mind can ever put out the flame. But, it is equally susceptible to delusion. The heart works in mysterious ways, because the heart is continuously having to battle the mind for control.
If you find yourself in a battle between your heart and your mind, you are well served to listen carefully to both. They are your guard rails, keeping you on track to make that perfect strike. If you are capable of enabling each to be your greatest advisor, you are well on your way to achieving excellence on many fronts.
Happy Friday!
