The imprint you make on eternity is not defined by your age, sex, ethnicity, profession, religion or any other status you may have in life’s current physical existence. It is measured by what intention, action, energy you are putting into this one moment, the moment you are living in right now, because eternity is the endless collection of moments.

Today is March 11, 2022. When you look back on your life, what will be the defining experiences that you manifested today that will make you remember this particular day? What piece or pieces of your life puzzle will snap together today to provide you with the ongoing reservoir of fuel to continue to manifest the life you are enjoying at present?
The fuel that drives our lives is a different mixture for every person. There are many overlaps, but none are identical. For some, it is the ability to put wind under the wings of our children. To elevate their lives in ways that might be unimaginable at first blush. To others, it might be the warm embrace that comes from a heartfelt hug that communicates an entire tome of words that could never be accurately expressed. To others, it might be the gestation, incubation and conclusion of a big deal that provides food, shelter and luxury for themselves and those they care about. And yet, to another, it could be the impetus of an idea that manifests into an exquisite work of art, unparalleled by anything prior.
The choices that we make in a moment are permanently inscribed into our past. Irrevocable and left for the mark of time. Whether we spend them intentionally or let some of them pass in passages of relaxation, they are all there in the fabric of the life we have created for ourselves.
For some, the imprint they make on eternity is global and very public, and for others it is quiet, local and very private. Yet, both leave an imprint. Large or small, public or private, it is still one person’s imprint.
So what difference does any of this really make? It’s not like someone is reading that imprint with judgment and perspective. Certainly the public figures will have an imprint that is reviewed and studied and criticized and revered depending upon whom they are and what they chose to do with their lives. For the rest of us, does it even matter?
I would argue that it matters considerably more than we might anticipate. I would postulate that given every person’s life intertwined with so many others, one tiny change can have a massive impact on the world.
Just to make a blunt point, if Putin’s parents didn’t have sex on that fateful day, how many people’s lives in Ukraine and around the world would be different today?
Or, what if his parents had spent more time teaching him compassion and life philosophy? Where would that leave the world this week?
Putin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao all arose from parents who were severely lacking in consciousness and, thereby left a horrific imprint on eternity.
How does any of this distill down to something of value in our daily lives?
I think it boils down to an understanding of incremental units. Pennies make up nickels and nickels make dimes and dimes make dollars. We do not think twice about leaving a few pennies behind. Maybe even a few dollars. Regardless of the incremental amount, eventually everyone hits a point where what they are being asked to leave behind is too precious and their internal resolve causes them to retain whatever it is that was about to be left behind.
Such is the value of these precious moments of our life. We will take none of the fame, fortune, acquired trinkets and awards into eternity. They will remain behind and if we have any concepts after our passing from this physical dimension, it will be that our joy in living in this three dimensional playground in physical form was everything in life. Individual moments are the incremental measurement of this life you are living. If you look back on the part of it that is already behind you, you will inevitably find positive, negative and neutral moments that you have expended.
You might rejoice at some of them and cringe at others. The opportunity of today’s aphorism is to remind you of their incremental value and to further awaken your awareness of how valuable they really are. Not one of them is like the penny that you leave in the change dish at the register. Every single one of them is far more valuable and considerably more precious. So if my musing today is able to awaken your consciousness in a way that enables you to grow in the process, then the incremental units that I have extended this morning are of true value in the larger scheme of things.
Time is precious. Life is precious. Make it count. Do something today that you will remember for the rest of your life.
You did it on March 11, 2022, a date that will make you smile for years to come.
Happy Friday!
