The morning breeze has something to tell you. Do not go back to sleep… do not go back to sleep… do not go back to sleep.

The morning breeze has something to tell you. Do not go back to sleep… do not go back to sleep… do not go back to sleep.

RUMI

Have you ever noticed that brief moment of clarity that exists just as you are awakening?

As your subconscious relinquishes control of your mind from an evening of exploration of the unknown, you cross a threshold of awareness in this precise transition.

Surprisingly, this is one of the most fertile moments of mental acuity because as your freshly awakened mind is taking control back from your subconscious, you have a brief moment of allowing your conscious mind to deliberately position key thoughts for your success in the coming hours.

Some might defray this opportunity with the mindset that they wake up groggy and could not possibly focus on something so important just as they are waking up.

From experience, I would share that if you know the thought that you want to be awakening with, spend a couple minutes consciously thinking that thought through before you go to sleep. Put a suggestion in your mind that you will awaken thinking about this particular topic and repeat this suggestion to yourself a few times, just as you fall into Slumberland.

I believe you will discover that with this deliberate intention, coupled with the determination to start incorporating this into your life, you will find a direct purpose with definitive results in your direct outcome for having expended this energy.

The morning mind is delivering you energy from your dream world. There is a potency in this magical transition and the window of opportunity appears to be less than a minute, so there must be a deliberate intention to leverage this to your core benefit.

Does it work? It does for me. Can I verify it? No. When I found this poem from Rumi, whom I admire so much, I did some research into what others have interpreted as the core meaning of what he is expressing. That which I have just shared is a general summation of what I learned from my research.

Try it a couple times and see what happens. Set a deliberate intention for what you want to see happen the next day, focus on that and fall asleep. Wake up and allow those thoughts to be first thoughts as you awaken… and then go about your day with intention of making those things manifest in your life. Perhaps there is no limit as to what you may accomplish.

Happy Friday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
