There’s no such thing as ruining your life. Life is a pretty resilient thing, it turns out.

If I make this decision and it does not go the way I planned, my life will be ruined.
Have you heard that one before? Or even dared think it yourself?
The reality is that even when or if that option goes south, the sun rises the next day and then what?
Life goes on.
We fret, plan, strategize, hypothesize, predetermine, build expectations, hope, dream and pray for outcomes.
Some come to fruition, others, not at all.
But the sun rises again the next day. And then what?
Then we pick up the pieces of what is left, when something has not materialized to our expectation, and we leverage all of our available resources and apply them to what our next course of action will be.
Of all of the sages who have helped me to learn this truth, Viktor Frankl, survivor of the holocaust, has written most eloquently on the topic. One of his best statements to this topic: When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.
Yesterday, in sharing my feelings about getting lost and finding my way back again, I received more responses than I might have imagined. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering this chapter of life and gave me cause to pick this for today.
Just remember…. The sun will rise tomorrow. We will be breathing and moving. Everything after that variable, is to some degree, an option of our choosing.
And never lose sight of the most precious resource you have in life.
Your will and determination. They alone are omnipotent.
Happy Wednesday
