Throw Me To The Wolves And I Will Return Leading The Pack.

It’s funny how one concept at the right moment in your life can mean everything. This morning I was perusing my material looking for what I would send out today. I really didn’t have anything in mind and I started going back through files from more than a decade ago looking for something that made my brain illuminate this morning.

And there it was, a quotation that I had found at one of the lowest moments in my life…I had spent more than 30 years of my life promoting the biggest companies in the entertainment industry worldwide. My team at The Illusion Factory had regularly invented cutting edge technologies, business methodologies, business strategies and continually looked directly into the future to conjure what would be coming next. What was the next big thing?

And then, the Writer’s Guild decided to go on strike in 2007 which brought the entertainment industry to its knees and by the time that strike had resolved, we were headed into the financial crisis of 2008 that devastated my company beyond repair. The studios were in chaos and after more than 30 years of sweating blood for these entities, the writing was on the wall that my future was no longer in that pasture. The loyalty and dedication that my team had demonstrated for decades was suddenly cast aside with a new attitude in the entertainment industry from clients who had called themselves my friends. It was one of the most intensely painful realizations I had ever encountered. My morale was as low as could possibly be, my steam was out the window and it felt as if there was almost nothing left to hold onto. And then I stumbled onto this quotation and I memorialized it in the fashion I was using back in 2009. And it made me feel good for a tiny little moment, and then I forgot it….

and it just showed up through happenstance this morning and I started to smile from ear to ear.

A person is blessed when they have brilliant people who believe in them, even when all signs point to the contrary. Something deep inside has to awaken in that person in order to survive. It’s just that simple. There is a turning point when you recognize what you are truly made of and how determined you are to make sure that you are living the life that you are meant to live.

Most of you know very little about our new company called Sizzle because I am for the most part very circumspect about it. Sizzle has the potential to revolutionize countless industries simultaneously. It is a technology and business model that represents all of the lessons that I was fortunate to learn while working for the world’s most successful companies and championing their products on the global stage.

But now it’s my turn.

Now it is my chance to come back into the global arena again with a definitive world changer. One that has been steeped in decades of experience, ingenuity, determination, creativity and most importantly, passion. Without passion it would be nothing.

I have spent this last decade living amongst the wolves, metaphorically, and this experience has been the greatest training of all. It has taught willpower, determination, fortitude, courage and tenacity.

Each of you are so gracious to read what I share in the morning. Even if for me it is just a type of therapy by expressing what I am feeling and hoping that it helps move another human being through a time of uncertainty. The Illusion Factory has continued tirelessly during this last decade to re-emerge every bit as innovative as we ever were, but with our focus on the future. At a time when so many business models are failing, serendipitously, Sizzle is proving to be the solution that these businesses are hoping for, and I could not be more proud to be delivering it with my team of brilliant collaborators. ❤️❤️❤️

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
