What exactly is true wisdom? In a world of perceptual reality, I think the difference between wisdom and reality is how a person is able to grasp reality and process it.

When we are young and in school, it feels as if knowledge is being crammed into our head at maximum capacity.

In many respects that takes away the joy of learning because it is imposed upon us to memorize as opposed to empirically discover…

But as we get older, certain topics draw our deeper attention and focus. That deeper attention takes us into unique journeys of knowledge and exploration. And in that exploration, we excitedly discover how little we truly know.

If you have ever had the opportunity to descend into a fractal, it is the same pattern repeating itself down word in a progressive cycle that never ends.

I think that is the exciting aspect of knowledge. And going from macro to micro, we are able to descend into ever more granular exploration of a topic. That exploration shows us infinite new pathways we might choose to take in our pursuit of the deeper knowledge on that particular topic. In many respects that becomes almost infinite. And ever more complicated pathway of knowledge paths for our brain to engage. To an enlightened mind, the discovery of all of these new pathways are a great joy because each of them reveal to you yet another opportunity to add to your collective wisdom.

I hope your Thursday brings you new stimulation and joys that you had not anticipated?

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
