Without rain, nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storms in your life.

Without rain, nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storms in your life.

POWER OF POSITIVITY

When was the last time you weathered a storm of growth in your world?

The storms seem to arise out of nowhere, blanketing us with experiences, feelings, emotions, angst, fear, and trepidation. They manifest from within as well as from external variables, each creating their own unique set of parameters that cause us to take shelter.

In the pause for shelter, we have opportunity to reflect on the circumstances that have brought us to this juncture and to evaluate which details we have at our disposal to help the storm to vacate from our existence and empower us to move forward.

A storm looks and feels like a blight that has rained down upon us with the fury of nature, impassive to our needs and wants.

But is that always true?

Is it possible that we create certain storms in order to learn the critical lessons that we most need to learn in order for us to effectively level up from where we are and escalate to where we most wish to be?

When the student is ready, the master appears. In many cases, the master is the storm. It causes us to snap out of our daily hypnotic trance and to instead focus on the variables within the storm that are keeping us from going where we believed we were headed. Instead, the storm catches us in a moment of vulnerability and gives us tremendous pause to contemplate the choices we have made, and to rethink some of those, predicated upon the variables in the storm that are restraining us.

We are state that we wish to grow, but growth comes with growing pains that we seemingly erase from our memory with the blanketing amnesia that so compassionately enables us to repress some of the pain of the growth, and instead, empowers us to leverage that growth into new chapters in which we have elevated to a surprising new level.

We have a choice in the storm. Stand tall and fight it out, or cower in fear and pray it all disseminates as quickly as possible. Neither alternative is wrong. But in the choice to stand and fight it out, we are continuously growing, as the work in progress we truly are…. And with that growth comes new blossoms of opportunity that may never have been possible, had the storm not swept in and captured you in the process.

Happy Saturday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
