You are beautiful, cherished, important, special, worthy and loved. Don’t let your own thoughts to tell you otherwise.

I think it is natural to start to feel certain self-deprecating feelings while one is pursuing life with everything that one has.

If one has very high expectations for oneself and they are not being met at the rigorous timetable that one has set for oneself, it is natural to feel doubt amidst a host of other negative feelings.

In a moment like this, taking complete inventory of the many facets of one’s life can potentially enable one to feel more grounded, appreciated and understood.

When one is incredibly motivated, any deterrence from reaching the goal can sometimes shed disproportionate negativity on one’s life. All the more reason to find perspective and to help oneself to arrive at a warm place of self acceptance. This need not diminish one’s drive.

But in finding that personal acceptance, and comfort with the aspects of one’s being that are not up to the level that one is hoping they might be, the neutral space that is created becomes the cocoon to incubate the qualities necessary to allow one to escalate up to the next level.

Be kind to yourself. Life is always trying to give you cause to feel like you are being beaten up and if you take the time to cherish yourself, I believe you extend your life cycle considerably and you make the life you live all the more warm and joyous.

Wishing you an exhilarating Friday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
