You don’t see souls with your eyes. You feel them with your heart.

Do you ever get that vibe from another person?

Of course you do. We all do.

There is an unwritten language that is communicated on levels that we are not fully able to describe, explain or control. We characterize it with many words; vibe, tone, feeling, sense… Regardless of the description or understanding of such, it is very present… we get a nonverbal communication from others that leads us deeper into our interactions with one another.

Interestingly, animals are even more in tune with this than we are. We have all seen an animal react to another person in myriad ways. Sometimes with suspicion and fear, and other times with overt joy and love. Seldom are the animals wrong, but they can be.

In particular, since I was bitten by a dog when I was very young and had to have stitches, I always have had an initial fear of dogs of a certain size, whether I want to express it or not. I may be walking on a hiking trail and encounter another dog. That hidden fear inside of me fires, the dog smells it instantly and starts barking at me. I love dogs. I have had many and adore them, so it is disappointing to me that I have this reaction that causes their reaction.

With another person, we can be fully deceived by countless masks of what would appear to be the truth. In those moments, we are potentially not listening to what our heart is sharing, and instead, we are listening to what our mind is telling us. When we encounter a sociopath, of which there are many, and we listen to what they say, there is often a nagging detail in our heart that keeps us wondering if perhaps not everything that they are communicating is on the up and up.

Conversely, sometimes you just meet a stranger and within seconds, you sense you will be good friends. That feeling brews and within a short period of time, that experience blossoms into the best of relationships.

In life, finding that internal communication with oneself and learning to abide by it with greater reliance than we might at first be willing to allow, usually proves to be of great value. The more we experience, the more chapters of life we have under our proverbial belt, the more true this adage becomes.

There are deeper communication pathways than we are currently capable of understanding. As humans continue to evolve, I believe some of these will become more evident and understood. For the time being, know that your heart is in tune and it is well aware of what is going on. Perhaps it is always wise to listen to it, even if your mind or another person tells you otherwise.

Happy Tuesday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
