You’ll never reach what is in front of you, until you let go of what is behind you.

You’ll never reach what is in front of you, until you let go of what is behind you.

What is specifically holding you back?

The quicker you are able to identify the variables that constrain you, the faster and more ready you are to take complete control of your life, and put your life on track to achieve that which you are trying most to succeed at.

There are many variables that can potentially hold us in place: financial, emotional, love, circumstantial, duty, honor, employment, loyalty, and fiduciary responsibilities. Whichever of these variables are relevant in your circumstance, it is very important to see them as being the potential limiting factor that they are, in order for you to rise above their hold on you, and elevate yourself into the position you are most desirous of achieving.

Some of these statements are far easier to make, then they are to put into practice. Many people are held in place by being in the wrong relationship either personally or professionally, and once a comfort zone is created in that relationship, they become that much more unlikely to divert their resources, and their attention from the status quo, to what they are most hoping to accomplish.

If you are in a situation like that, it is perhaps wise to recognize that each of us only gets one pass on this planet and therefore, I believe it is incumbent upon all of us to make it the very best we possibly can.

If financial circumstances are holding you back, it is mandatory to find alternate solutions to the capitalization that you will require, otherwise you will always be within the limitations of your financial circumstances, and it will continue to constrain any choices that you might wish to make going forward.

If you are in other circumstances that are holding you back, understanding every possible alternative to that situation that might be at your disposal would be a good next step for seeing if there is some combination of opportunity and resources in your world that make sense for you to pursue.

The first step towards liberation is an understanding of the fact that you are being constrained in the first place, and leveraging that understanding to assisting you in accomplishing your goal of diminishing those constraints and replacing them instead with opportunity.

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
