Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasure to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.

OCTAVIA E. BUTLER

How do you choose your leaders?

Do you often feel as if the choice that you make for a leader, is the lesser of two evils?

In the course of making this choice, are you able to look deeply into the character, track record, motivation, and capabilities of the person whom you are selecting?

Does it provide you with a deeper sense of comfort that you are able to understand the moral turpitude of the party whom you believe will most likely represent you or whom you wish to follow?

There are many kinds of leaders in life, from the political spectrum to the educational arena, the extracurricular arts, sports as well as the business leaders. Each of whom we are willing to devote a percentage of our life towards furthering the goals within their agenda.

With each and every leader, under whom we might ultimately find ourselves, we are working in part to service their agenda through either our citizenship, our patronage, or our devote attention to that which they are working to impart upon us.

Leaders come through the entire spectrum of qualities, as today’s aphorism, so aptly delineates, but within those, comes cause and opportunity for us to calculate how and why we are continually following their lead.

As a direct result, it is imperative to recognize exactly how that lead is ultimately impacting who we are currently, and even more importantly, who we are destined to become.

If we are prudent in our our understanding of these variables, we are more armed and capable of making wiser, more informed decisions, such that the ramifications of those decisions will ultimately bear greater fruit for us long-term.

Happy Monday!
