Allow every situation to be what it is, instead of what you think it should be.

Allow every situation to be what it is, instead of what you think it should be.

Do you practice the law of acceptance?

When you see a situation arising, are you willing to allow it to be what it is, or are you instantly working to change it?

There are many shades of acceptance. In first inspection of this aphorism, there would be an expectation that all variables would fall into the category of that which must be accepted, whereas the reality is that there are many things in life that should not be reduced to sheer acceptance, but rather the exact opposite.

Under those circumstances, a recognition of something requires immediate attention on our part to understand the variable for what it is, and if it is in the realm of options for us to remedy or alter that situation, we most certainly should.

This particular aphorism is focusing on the prospect that we encounter many things in our lives, which are not within the realm of any influence, control or effort that we might ultimately exert ourselves.

When we find ourselves in such a situation, we must either galvanize the resources of one or more people or institutions or we must recognize that the situation is beyond any influence or control that we could possibly exert upon it, and therefore we are well served to allow those variables to just be, without the needless utilization of our continuous mind space, trying to remedy variables that are entirely outside of our control.

When we feel very strongly about something, our ability to remain complacent, and thereby accepting, of such circumstances may require tremendous effort on our part, predicated entirely upon how, and why those particular variables push our internal buttons, impact our lives and leave us wanting.

The reality is that as we grow older and wiser, presumably we discover that the invested mind space and energy towards components of the equation upon which we have no impact whatsoever, is truly just chunks of our lives leveraged in ways that will never benefit us or anyone else for having expended the energy.

Once we are capable of understanding those distinctions, we are that much more ready, willing, and able to engage with the world through a filter that precludes our expenditure of useless energy in categories, where it cannot be fruitful.

Happy Tuesday!
