Lessons From The Mountain
As the world fights to figure everything out, I’ll be holding doors for strangers, letting people cut in front of me in traffic, saying good morning, keeping babies entertained in grocery lines, stopping to talk to someone who is lonely, being patient with sales clerks, smiling at a passersby.
I ought to care more about you than I do about me. I ought to care more about what’s right than I do about what’s popular. I ought to be willing to give up this whole thing for something I believe in. Because if I’m not, then maybe I don’t belong here in the first place.
The only people who get upset about you setting boundaries are those who are benefitting from you having none.
When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.
You are the artist of your life. Do not give the paintbrush to anyone else.
When I shut my mouth and I walk away, it doesn’t mean that you’ve won, it simply means you’re not worth my time anymore.
When I am with you, we stay up all night. When you’re not here, I can’t go to sleep. Praise God for those two insomnias, and the difference between them.
Just because you’re offended, doesn’t mean you’re right.
I know what I bring to the table… So trust me when I say that I am not afraid to eat alone.
I had to make you uncomfortable, otherwise you never would have moved.
