Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.

Can you imagine what life would be like without ever having heard one note of music?

I wonder if you truly can.

If music had never been thought of, our existence would most certainly be different. Less magical. Less fulfilling. Less dynamic.

We might discover that our souls would be that much more in tune with the sounds of nature, for most certainly, there is a quality of music that stems from the rain storm, the waves crashing against the rocks, the water lapping against the shoreline, the wind blowing through the trees.

We would hear it in the birdsong, the cry of the wolf, the giggle of a joyful baby.

Perhaps our minds might connect more with the sound of glass gently clinking with another glass, or with the metallic utensils connecting with the plate.

The rhythms in life are around us everywhere. Any repetitive sound like a tire transversing the road, a machine performing its mechanized tasks, the ticking of a clock, or the sounds of birds wings flapping.

The more you hypothesize about how life might be if there were no such thing as music, the more you can start to visualize all of the inspirations in life that must have given way to music.

From there, you would need to pursue a human’s need to dance. I do not believe that dance needed to originate from music, in that dance is so organic, a human would have started moving around in something perhaps more like Tai Chi or the motions that stem from indigenous tribes from century’s past.

I believe that music is so organically intrinsic as to be the foundation of life itself.

As we are all vibrational energy when we zoom deep within the human body and down to the atoms, themselves, it is no wonder that our being responds to the vibrational energies of music. It explains why plants and animals respond similarly. It casts a light on why some music appeals when we are up and vibrant, and why other music is so comforting when we are feeling sad and lonely.

Music is truly as fundamental in life as earth, wind, fire and water. It is a core infrastructure upon which we are constructed, and as essential to life as the air we breath and the nutrients we consume. It delivers us to places we wish to exist, it elevates our beings to vibrational energy we crave, it moves us to dance with all the joy and passion our souls may conjure, and it brings our specie to new heights of experience that are unthinkable without the stimuli of the music itself.

Happy Wednesday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
