Learning how to be still, to be really still and let life happen - that stillness becomes a radiance.

In The Matrix, Neo gets really still and is able to see the code. In black belt training, we are told to get very still and watch minutia detail in our opponent. This can present itself as a shift in bodyweight, a glance of the eye, a muscle twitch or anything similar which will telegraph the next move or strike that is heading in your direction.

In a moment where the world is spinning in a multitude of crazy directions, finding your own stillness, the quiet sanctuary in your mind, can become one of the greatest assets that one has.

For in that silence, in the stillness, the answers to the questions you are pondering, await you.

It would seem contrary to what you might predict would be the outcome of going into silence. Silence is meditation and that should be the absence of thought. But many times, silence is the waiting room in which you may seek sanctuary between a stimulus and your response. The gap between that stimulus and response is your power window. It is a moment to catch any inappropriate internal response to a stimuli and allow your mature and rational mind to weigh those response options prior to allowing any of them to rise to the surface.

Sometimes, after a day full of overwhelming and bombarding stimuli, I find the silence when I seek out a sunset or walk in the moonlight contemplating the myriad of variables that are spinning through my head. This is truly one of the best moments of the day for me❤️

I hope your Thursday is rewarding in ways that you have yet to imagine?

QUESTION OF THE DAY: How do you find your silence? What do you use it for?

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
