Try to travel, otherwise you may become racist, and you may end up believing that your skin is the only one to be right, that your language is the most romantic and that you were the first to be the first.

How far out of your comfort zone have you ever traveled?

Were you ever at the point where you wondered if you were even going to get back home?

I wish there were a way to make traveling mandatory for everyone. The opportunity to sidestep unfounded xenophobic fears and replace them with first person knowledge about the race or religion or culture that is causing so much unfounded fear and needless hatred.

I treasure so much about the experiences I have in other parts of the world, that traveling is a mandatory part of my being; yet with each and every trip, I discover more things about our country that I respect, revere and deeply appreciate.

We are always quick to presume that the United States is the first to have everything cool that is new but the reality is that there are many intriguing and compelling things that are making their debut in other parts of the world, waiting for you to discover them.

When you start looking at the world through open eyes of a traveler you see exquisite beauty in the people, their customs, their fashion, their cuisine and the vast beauty of their country. The fears quickly melt away in favor of discovering that we are all really one.

I think an enormous part of the xenophobia in the United States is a direct result of that portion of the population not having ventured into territories unknown…. just because. When you encounter a different culture and you are respectful enough to participate in their customs and their ceremonies, you cannot help but discover that as a specie, we have so much more in common than we have that separates us. It is so disappointing to be living in a nation of terrified, ignorant fools who are operating like sheep and engaging with others without mutual respect, appreciation or courtesy.

Nobody taught a big portion of the United States the fact that so much of the world was going to change in the course of their lifetime. They were completely blindsided by it. I see it differently because it has always been my job to anticipate the changes that are coming into play or to invent them as is required.

If our great nation is going to prevail, it will take a giant shift in perspective in order for those who are so terrified to stop seeing everything through such a negative filter.

The xenophobic, misogynistic herd of human cattle in this country are working overtime to try to assert domination over women, their bodies and anyone else that they do not approve of. We are out of time, my friends. If you believe that the world is an amazing place, worthy your time and energy to save, then you have no choice any longer but to speak up with conviction. When you see ignorance leading the pack, question it. When you see blind hatred forging its way into any aspect of your life, you must confront it. Lest we all become sequestered into this great country without any ability to venture into the giant Earth and explore.

Happy Wednesday!

When I was 5 years old, I discovered that the lemon tree in the backyard + dixie cups + water and sugar and I was in business. I have been hooked on that ever since. In 1979, I borrowed $14,000 to create a brand new product... photographic greeting cards with no text on the inside, called Paradise Photography. That was the start of The Illusion Factory. Since then, The Illusion Factory has been entrusted by all of the major studios and broadcasters with the advertising and marketing of over $7 billion in filmed, live, broadcast, gaming, AR, VR and regulated gaming forms of entertainment, generating more than $100 Billion in revenue and 265 awards for creativity and technology for our clients. When I took a break from film school at UCLA to move to Hawaii, my mother did not lecture me. Instead, she took 150 of her favorite aphorisms and in her beautiful calligraphy, wrote them artistically throughout a blank journal. That is the origin of the Lessons from the Mountain series. Since then, on my journeys to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise, I have spent countless hours contemplating words of wisdom from the sages of all races, genders and political persuasions, constantly accumulating the thoughts to guide me on my life path. I hope you enjoy my books. Please let me know your thoughts, as I highly value your feedback!
