Man is not the sum of what he has already, but rather the sum of what he does not yet have, of what he could have.

Never let yourself fall short of the sum total of everything you truly are. Your future remains your potential.
It is very easy to take a personal inventory and feel like you are coming up short, for a host of reasons. We are often most critical of ourselves and in many circumstances, do not allow ourselves to see our future as a line item on our overall resources.
But that is surely not the case. If it were not, then what we were born with would be the bottom line and nothing else would have relevance or value.
But each and every year, we grow, evolve, experience, mutate. We see in ourselves the myriad potentials and we choose from the ones that appear most probable as we select the one or two paths we will try to conquer next.
So when you are alone, looking in the mirror, and your reflection tells you that perhaps you are not living up to what you want to be, just remember that part of who you are currently, is that fire in your belly that continues to drive you to becoming whom you wish to be.
I do not think that is counting chickens before they are hatched, so much as looking at raw chocolate chip cookie dough before you put it into the oven. You know with the proper temperature and time that it will evolve into the cookies that it is meant to be. And with your own growth, you know that with similar approach, you too can evolve into what you are meant to be.
EDITOR’S NOTE: DO NOT insert yourself into an oven like chocolate chip cookies. This was a metaphor to illustrate an idea. Putting yourself into an oven can be fatal and is not intentionally being suggested as a part of this musing. And… if you do make the cookies… do the exercise to work off the calories!!!
Rise to your potential. It is already a component of who you are, you just need to grow and unlock it to your greatest benefit.
Happy Friday!
